Recycle, Hike & Create: Art for Cyprus

Explore Cyprus through a different lens—one that connects nature, creativity, and positive impact.

From the Troodos Mountains to Paphos and Nicosia, you’ll discover the island’s landscapes, culture, and urban spaces while taking part in hands-on sustainability activities. Along the way, you’ll join guided clean-up walks across different cities, collecting discarded and natural materials that would otherwise go to waste.

Your collected materials will then take on a new life at Aigaia School of Art & Design, where you’ll work alongside artists and creatives through studio-based and outdoor workshops. Together, you’ll experiment with sculpture, mixed media, and public art—exploring how creativity can respond to environmental challenges and transform the spaces around us.

About The Host(s)

Aigaia School of Art & Design

Aigaia School of Art & Design is a creative education institution in Nicosia, Cyprus, founded in 2005. Housed in a restored 1922 building, the school brings together traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art and design.

Its programmes span areas including fine art, sculpture, ceramics, photography, installation, textiles, graphic design, and 3D design, with a strong emphasis on experimentation and hands-on learning.

For this experience, Aigaia becomes a space for participants to explore how art can engage with sustainability and the places we live in—turning collected materials into collaborative creative work and opening conversations around public art, environmental responsibility, and creative activism.
